Dr. Joel J. Gagnier, BA (Hons), ND, MSc
(Clin. Epi.), PhD (Cand.)
Dr. Joel J. Gagnier is a
Naturopathic Doctor and Clinical Epidemiologist. He has an ND from the Canadian
College of Naturopathic Medicine, an MSc and will be completing a PhD this
winter, both in the area of Clinical Epidemiology and Health-Care Research from
the University of Toronto. He is a member of the prestigious CONSORT Group, the
Cochrane Collaboration, editorial board member of several peer-reviewed
scientific journals, a board member of several research societies, and lecturer
at the University of Western Ontario and the Canadian College of Naturopathic
Medicine. He has held previous positions such as Clinical Editor for the
British Medical Journal, Senior Science Officer for Jamieson Laboratories,
Assistant Professor at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, and has
operated a private clinical practice in Windsor, Ontario since 2001. Dr.
Gagnier has published many peer reviewed papers, regularly speaks at
international scientific meetings, appears in the media and regularly gives
public lectures. He has been instrumental in advancing the quality of clinical
trials in medicine and the state of science surrounding natural health
products.
As a Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Gagnier sees patients of all age
groups for any condition and for preventative medicine. He operates a family
style practice and takes pride in working hard to find underlying causes of
disease and in applying he appropriate therapies on an individual basis. Dr.
Gagnier looks at all determinants of health: biology, psychology, sociology,
and spirituality. With this in mind, he uses the following therapies either
individually or in combination: natural health products (vitamins, minerals,
herbal medicines, homeopathics etc), clinical nutrition, acupuncture, lifestyle
counseling, and mind-body medicine (stress reduction, relaxations techniques).
Also, Dr. Gagnier regularly orders standard and sophisticated laboratory tests
and will look at recent scientific evidence when analyzing each individual
case. Most extended health-care plans cover all or part of Dr. Gagnier's
services.
